HACK THE GAP PROJECTS
Hack the Gap Book
Hack the Gap Book initiative has taken inspiration from In the Company of Women. The book project highlights women, non-binary, transgender folks and BIPoC share the experience of being excluded from having a seat at the table. The people included in this book aren’t waiting to be invited anymore. Instead they’re making their own tables, bringing their own chairs and leading the meetings in the boardroom here in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
These stories weave together, overlap and diverge in beautiful ways. Many picked up tech skills that were completely outside off their professional background. Some are mothers who are learning how to balance motherhood and building their career. Others risked everything to build the company of their dreams. But everyone included in this book is breaking down barriers to make it easier for the next underrepresented person to enter the tech space.
BRIDGE FELLOWSHIP
Hack the Gap Bridge Fellowship program to facilitate personal and professional growth for women, non-binary, and BIPoC groups. We are making an investment in our community, to build a more equitable world through technology. The fellowship is focuses on young and diverse entrepreneurs getting their foot in the doors. Preparing them to become independent consultants, start their own businesses and/or thrive as working professionals.
The Bridge Fellowship is Hack The Gap's way of putting a stake in the ground to support deserving tech workers. Truly helping them succeed in an inequitable environment
We will pair our participants with paid projects, skills coaching, and professional mentorship while providing clients with amazing products. We hope to grow together with our participants and clients. Community is vital in tackling huge social and professional change, the first step is to get our participants in that door.
MATERNAL MORTALITY HACKATHON
Hack the Gap is collaborating with St Kate’s WHIR center to empower intergenerational teams of alumni, faculty and students to generate innovations for women’s health equity. In particular, we will focus on the maternal mortality rate among black women in the US.
We want to to connect with other community members to participate in creative problem solving around a systemic and institutional issue impacting our society.
